On the day
We have an exciting day of provocative thinking, briefings, in-depth conversations, experiential elements, and learning circles. Together we will explore pressing packaging challenges within the context of broader themes such as climate change, plastics, environmental conservation, the resource and waste strategy, and consumer engagement.
We will be joined by an experienced and talented cast of speakers and facilitators including:
The Circular Economy and Making Future Fit Decisions
Kevin Vyse, Packaging technologist and circular economy advocate, RAP, Recoup & Defra (previously with M&S, Premier Foods, Tesco and Muller), will give a provocative and practical talk to challenge you to make decisions and design strategies fit for business and the planet.
Plastic Substitutions in a Hierarchy of Solutions to Plastic Pollution
Dilyana Mihaylova, Marine Plastics Projects Manager, Conservation Science and Design at Fauna & Flora International, will help us to understand the impact of plastic substitutions compared to other solutions to plastic pollution. She’ll discuss the best types of innovations to choose and how to avoid unintended consequences.
Leadership, Sustainable Innovation and Collaboration
Phil Wild, CEO of papermaker James Cropper plc, will be in conversation with Louise Cary. Expect themes of sustainable innovation; collaboration across the supply chain; enabling the circular economy and working together to overcome key environmental challenges.
Sustainability Communications, Augmented Reality
Daniel Hartz from Zappar will demonstrate how Augmented Reality can transform passive packaging into a space for dynamic interactive storytelling, from exploring sustainability, supply chains and brand purpose through to rewarding loyalty.
DISCUSSION GROUPS: Afternoon learning tables will have the following themes:
Zero Waste, Refill and go Single Use Packaging Free with Hannah Crump, Unpackaged
Join Unpackaged to discover and explore how refills could work for your brand. Unpackaged work with Planet Organic and Waitrose and have solutions that could save thousands of tonnes of plastic and packaging.
Empowering Consumers to Act on Climate and Recycling
What are the barriers and opportunities for carbon footprint labels on packs? How can we help consumers make better informed decisions about purchasing? What is best practice for labelling on recyclability?
Future Planning with Resource & Waste Strategy in mind
The Resource & Waste Strategy has a fundamental impact on packaging decision-making. Post consultations, what changes are likely to be enforced; how can you prepare for this?; and what do you need to be aware of?
FuturePlanet 10XIMPACT events are safe learning environments with Chatham House rules. We curate the days help you solve challenges within your business and foster collaboration to unlock transformational change.
“Phenomenal. Great energy, inspiring people and brilliant discussions. If you’re looking to get involved in a highly curated, intelligent and purpose-driven community – look no more.” Emilien Hoet, Partnerships, Provenance

“We are engaged with EuroPaper Plus and their envoPAP paper product made from sugar cane waste materials. We are going to seriously review their product with a view to testing this out on real client work. I wouldn’t have been aware of them if it wasn’t for FuturePlanet.” Kevin Dunkley, CIO HH Global
